“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22–23)
Update for the 2017-2018 School Year
We again review the past year by giving thanks to God. He has never failed us. He has upheld this Home through 15 years of changes and challenges, meeting every need according to His riches in glory.
We have much to celebrate. As we look back over this past year, we rejoice to see the fruits of this Home and God’s faithfulness. The Home began with 13 young children in 2003. Over the past few years we have seen many children finally graduate from the home: they finished their studies, got good jobs, and are living independently in Bangalore. We did not know what would happen when we began this Home. With so many of their families devastated by death, violence, alcoholism, AIDS, and poverty, neither we nor the children ever dreamed so many children would be rescued from poverty and despair to live such rich and independent lives. Read a few of their stories in the page below and in our newsletter. We thank God for His kindness to us all.
The Blessing Home currently cares for 22 children in residence. Two more are studying in nursing programs, staying at their schools. A few more children are on family support: they live with their families but the Home pays for their school, educational, and medical expenses. In total, the Home is caring for about 30 children. As children graduate, we fill their spots with new young children in need. You can read about some of them in our newsletter. All of our children attend the best English medium schools in the area. Our children excel academically; many pass with distinction or in first class.
Here at the Home, we aim to care for all aspects of a child’s existence. Not only do we provide for a high-quality English medium education, spiritual care and growth, social needs, but we also care for their bodies through healthy meals and regular medical care. In April 2018, all the children received their regular medical checkups. In August 2018, a team from the Rajiv Gandhi Medical College provided a dental checkup for all the children. Furthermore, we aim to provide them with a variety of new experiences, such as cultural programmes and day trips to play at resorts. You can read about these in our newsletter.
God has always been faithful. We entrust our future to Him as well, because surely His mercies are new every morning.
Shyla’s Story: Child Laborer to Star Student
Both of Shyla’s parents were construction workers in Bangalore, so Shyla grew up working on a construction site as a child laborer (pictured above). One passerby same her and thought it was not safe for her. He sought the best home in Bangalore, found the Blessing Home, and brought her to the Home. When she first arrived, she didn’t understand any of the languages at the Home. As her performance and understanding increased, she was put in better and better schools. She always had the desire to study hard and come up in life. She always gets first class in her marks (pictured right), and is now studying in her second year of B.Com. She desires to work in marketing. She wants to succeed so she can take care of her family.
Revathi’s Journey: From Mute Child to Passionate Teacher
From the age of 5, Revathi was left on her own on the streets by her alcoholic parents. Prema Aunty was working as a social worker in that slum, and she regularly gave Revathi clothes, bathe her, and bring her to the day care center. Revathi was covered in scabs and skin infections, and could not speak. One day Revathi was on her death bed, suffering from measles. Even then her parents did not care for her. With their permission, Prema Aunty admitted Revathi into the hospital. She received treatment and was healed. From then onwards, Prema Aunty took care of Revathi, as both parents had rejected her. At the age of 6, after much prayer, Revathi began to speak. She was put in the school, and joined the Blessing Home when Prema Aunty opened it in 2003. Revathi worked very hard to pick up her studies in English medium school. She completed her schooling, and in 2017 completed her B.A. in first class. Upon completion of her B.A., she decided to stay at Blessing Home and help around the Home, assisting in the office and taking care of children. She is currently studying for her B.Ed. (Bachelors of Education). Her passion is to help children by teaching them social studies. She especially wants to help those who are really struggling in their studies.
Nandini’s Testimony
Dear Friends,
I am Nandini Rachael. It is a joy to share to you what the Lord has done in my life through Blessing Home. It’s a dream come true for me because I’m the first one in my entire family to hold a bachelor’s degree. Before coming to Blessing Home, there was no hope, no meaning in life and no safe environment. But after coming to Blessing Home, it was totally a different world for me, always spending in prayer, very safe environment and loving people to take care of us. I thank the Almighty for choosing me from that poverty-stricken family to stand as a living testimony for his glory. Now I’m leading a dignified life in the society and working for a good company. If I’m leading a blessed life, it’s all because of the efforts, commitment and sacrifice of people who have invested in my life. I would support Blessing Home in whatever ways possible. And God has given me so many blessing, I would like to give back my blessings to the home and ever be grateful all through my life. Blessing Home, thank you so much for investing in my life. When I came to Blessing Home in 2003, I walked in as nothing but today God has blessed me so much. And I know that I will bear fruits for his kingdom alone. I thank and praise God for each and everyone who guided my path. I’m excited and overwhelmed to tell you that I passed my bachelor’s in distinction and was also awarded academy topper.

Ezekiel’s Testimony
Blessing Home has been a very great blessing in my life. When I came to Blessing Home, I came without anything and no hope, not knowing what to do in my life. When all my family members and own parents left me on the streets, we really did not know what was going to happen to our future. I came to Blessing Home with the help of a social worker at the age of 9.
When I came to this Home, I found that it is a loving and caring Home. It was like a strong tower for me. I got an opportunity to study in an English medium school. It is really a great challenge with other children. As I was growing, my life changed totally, I got an opportunity to mingle with dignified people in the society. I gained a strong will power to study and come up in my life. Blessing Home has provided everything for me. From 10thstd., I got through in first class. In PUC, I got through with distinction, I completed my B.Com last year with very good marks. Because of my good performance, I got an opportunity to work in Great West Global Services Pvt Ltd. Now I am very well able to stand on my own feet.
I am very thankful to Blessing Home for the valuable contribution it is in my life. Now I am full of confidence and courage to face the outside world. I thank God for all the people who played such important roles in my life, especially Prema Amma.
